  • Olha Pylnyk was born on April 19, 1980 in Uzhhorod, Ukraine. As a child she sewed a lot, embroidered and knitted together with her mother. She graduated from music school and dreamed of becoming a fashion designer.

    In 1995 she attended the College of Applied Arts in Uzhhorod, Department of Ceramics and in 1999 she transferred to the National Academy of Arts in Lviv, again to the Department of Ceramics.

    After graduation she continued her work with ceramics. She established her own ceramic workshop and in 2007 presented her first solo exhibition at Green Sofa Gellery, Lviv, and it was a brilliant start for the rapid development of this artist, who has realized numerous conceptual projects in collaboration with Green Sofa Gellery, Dzygha, Muzeum of Contemporary Arts of Ukraine and Artistic Arsenal.

    Since 1999 she has participated in more than 30 group exhibitions and has presented her works in 8 solo exhibitions in Kiev, Lviv, Slovenia, Romania, Poland and Norway. Each new series of her works is innovative and at the same time bears her own distinctive artistic signature. The last projects of 2018-2020 were dedicated to environmental themes. Also in the last project she uses knitting techniques she learned as a child in clay. Today Olha is considered one of the most popular and well-known artist-ceramists in Lviv.

  • “I did a lot of embroidery as a child. I was fascinated by needlework, knitting, macramé and other crafts, so I originally wanted to be a fashion designer. While studying ceramics, I fell in love with this material. As a result, I have often incorporated fashion elements into my ceramic work. And in my latest project, I started experimenting with different weaving techniques with glue.”

    1999-2005 - studies at the National Academy of Arts in Lviv (master's degree in ceramics).
