Udo Hohenberger

Udo Hohenberger was born in 1967 in Spittal an der Drau and now lives and works in Vienna. He began studying painting at the Neue Wiener Kunstschule in 1992 and has been a lecturer for nude drawing and experimental painting since 1999.

Through his teaching activities, drawing became increasingly important in Hohenberger's painting. Each color surface is accompanied by a line, and the graphic elements correspond with the painting through a very glazed application of color. Hohenberger manifests people on paper and canvas with impressive graphic lines that float in the infinite space of color. The viewer's gaze gets lost in the planes of what has already disappeared and holds on to what is powerfully defined. The figure, embedded in the overall form, is perceived through a veil.

As one of the most important representatives of the second generation of Austrian post-war art, the artist has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and Austria. He has also been represented at international art fairs, including Beijing, China, alongside such greats as Maria Lassnig, Hermann Nitsch and Arnulf Rainer.

From 1992, the graduated artist studied painting at the New Vienna School of Art, where he has been a lecturer for Nude - Movement Studies and Experimental Painting since 1999.
