Alina Babenko

Alina Babenko's artworks are a reflection of her soul voice, as she believes that painting allows her to express her inner dialogue through color and form on a canvas. Her inner dialogue is represented by a brush and a painter's knife, and she feels that the vivid colors guide her decisions and actions according to her orientation in life. Alina's completed works all have their own story of creation, which continues in subsequent paintings. She mentally prepares for each painting and fully immerses herself in the creative process when the time comes. This process is a deep dive into herself, and her hand is guided by the voice of her heart, resulting in a single painting created in the here and now. Alina is most productive creatively at night, as it allows her to disconnect from the tensions of the world. After completing a painting, she takes time to reflect, but there are also times when she forces herself to paint in order to regain her strength and inner balance. For Alina, the creative process is often the source of inspiration, rather than the other way around.

“When I see a blank canvas in front of me, I feel terrible. Every time the fear increases, and every time I hold a palette and a tool in my hands, it's as if it were the first time. Of course, curiosity wins over fear, and a few hours later I'm already trying to examine the result of my work. It impresses, frightens and sometimes repels me, but this is only a temporary phase. After a few days, the paintings are filled with festive colors and the warmth that the sun radiates in the viewer.

Each painting is a step towards the revelation of previously unknown individual qualities, truths, values, desires and possibilities within me. With the help of my paintings and the bright colors I try to reflect the light that lives in me and thus tell my story, which no one has heard, but can imagine.”

In 2011, Alina Babenko graduated from the Academic Art School in Bila Tserkva, Kiev region, Ukraine. In 2017 she graduated from the Master's Degree in Architecture at the National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture in Kiev, Ukraine.
