Sirena e Centauri - Francesco Vaglica
Acrylic paints, bitumen, charcoal on canvas, 2020
200 x 150 cm
Description: “Raphael's famous Pala Baglioni and its strongly felt expression of pathos were an inspiration for "Sirena e Centauri". These mythological creatures, which are iconographically very different from each other, are seen together in the representation of pain. Although they belong to different worlds (the sea and the earth), here they are presented united in a single poetic moment. The poetic power of ancient myths reminds us of who we are, where we come from and where we live, showing suffering through a sublimated iconography from afar.”
