The end is new beginning - Sofiia Bortnikova
Mixed media on canvas, 2022
120 x 160 cm
Description: The artwork "The end is new beginning" invites the viewer to reflect on the complex relationship between man, nature and action. It criticizes human nature to destroy nature and the environment through the invention of weapons, money and wars, although in the end man is absorbed by nature. The body of man ultimately returns to nature and is dissolved by it. The quintessence of life is nature, which always wins despite human destruction. Nature makes grass and trees grow on abandoned houses, burned fields, old roads, and even nuclear explosions, and it attracts animals, insects, and birds. Nature and life will gradually heal the scars left by man. The artwork confronts the viewer with the question of what would happen if man suddenly disappeared, and whether this would be an end or a new beginning.

„Dieses Kunstwerk erinnert uns daran, wie zerbrechlich die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Natur ist und wie wichtig es ist, unsere Handlungen zu überdenken.“
