Michael Wegerer is an internationally known artist who passionately stands behind his talent and his art fascinates viewers around the world. He is active apart from his activity as an artist, as an athlete and won in 2022 the silver medal at the world championship in bench press in his weight class.
The artist works with extended processes of printmaking and installation. In his artistic work, Wegerer focuses on exploring culturally and historically evolved perceptual phenomena in image and text, with an emphasis in recent years on the interplay of color and texture. Wegerer's keywords are: Transformation and Association. The artist transforms and reshapes, awakens associations with his multifaceted art, activates perceptual processes and thus opens up unusual perspectives on everyday and seemingly banal things and circumstances.

“My multifaceted oeuvre sometimes shows a strong reference to the aesthetics of modernism. Starting from basic geometric forms, I deal in my works with the principle of the serial, which is also central to screen printing, and the relationship between color, rhythm and movement. The interaction between viewer and artwork also plays an important role for me, as does the idea of constantly experiencing the respective work anew by changing my own perspective.”
